The Lock---Week 3
Lock Faithful---I’ve been thinking about you all… All I do is think about you guys…Math is a beautiful thing. After a rough start, the probability this puppy starts hitting again is extremely high. Almost as high as the haters and insolvent fish got seeing the lock fail last Saturday.
With no further ado….Breaahhhhhheaaaakkkkiiiiinnnnggggggggggggg news:
Michigan State +3.5
Mel Tucker went 11-2 last season and the Spartans finished ranked No. 9 in the country. I’m not sure if Mr. Tucker has friends or family in Vegas, but the man seems to have an unhealthy obsession with covering. The Spartans were 9-3-1 ATS last season and are already 2-0 ATS in 2022. Michigan State should be able to run the ball on the Huskies with a two-headed monster at RB, have returning QB Peyton Thorne, and Tucker referred to No.1 WR Jayden Reed as “sore” which bodes well for his game time status on Saturday.
Michigan State had a bottom tier defense and the worst secondary in the Big 10 a season ago but they hit the portal hard and shutout Akron last week.
Washington is under a first-year Head Coach and are starting four true freshmen. They may have found a good QB in transfer Michael Penix Jr., but this is a Big 10 defense and not Portland State anymore (flashbacks to the Norfolk State needle). The Huskies have a decent array of skill players and will rely on big plays. I expect the Spartans to be much more physical and dominate the trenches. The Huskies are 0-4 in their last 4 games vs. the Big 10.
The metrics and eye test will prevail in this one. The days of MSU struggling out west should conclude if Melly Covers has anything to do with it.
