With no further ado….Breaahhhhhheaaaakkkkiiiiinnnnggggggggggggg news:
Ohio State, -17
Ohio State opened as -13.5 favorite and have climbed up to -17 by game week. The Buckeyes return 13 starters from last years team (6 on offense, 7 on defense). They are led by Heisman favorite QB C.J. Stroud, the Buckeyes had the best offense in the country a year ago and shouldn’t take any steps back in 2022. Stroud will have plenty of help with an elite offensive line, potential top-10 draft pick WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba and RB Treveyon Henderson who set an Ohio State freshman record with 19 touchdowns.
Defensively, the Buckeyes are more of a mystery. Last season, by Ohio State standards, they had a very poor defense finishing 9th in the Big 10. They brought in former Oklahoma State DC Jim Knowles and he will have the talent at his disposal to return this defense back to Ohio State standards.
Notre Dame is led by first-year Head Coach Marcus Freeman. He recently named mobile QB Tyler Buchner as the starter and Buchner has never thrown more than 14 passes in a college game. The Irish are expected to have a good offensive line and one of the best tight ends in the country Michael Mayer. The running back position and depth at WR remains a point of concern along with Buchner being able to move the ball downfield vertically.
The Buckeyes have a legitimate chance to be one of the top college football offenses in a decade and I see them being too much to keep up with for first year Head Coach Marcus Freeman and an unproven QB. I like the Buckeyes a lot here and don’t hate being on the side of the sharp money. This team has serious National Championship aspirations.
